Using government procurement to advance racial equity

GPL equity

This resource from the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab provides cities with a catalog of strategies for using procurement and contracting to advance racial equity. The publication draws from innovators across the U.S. and is designed to be applicable to local governments. The publication includes case studies from municipalities such as Long Beach, Calif., and Buffalo, N.Y., who are making changes to support businesses led by people of color. The publication is a helpful resource either as a starting point in addressing equity through procurement or to help examine, adjust, and redouble previous efforts to effect change.
